The Romans in the area

18 January 2023

It entirely escaped our mind to let everyone know that if further proof was ever required regarding the Romans roaming the Somme many years ago, a lady visiting the site found on the track leading past the Butte an old Roman coin.

What the coin actually was we have no idea as she took it away to do some homework on it. The nearby D929 road is a Roman road and has the main Roman trait of being as straight as an arrow.
